Jill Turner Claybrook was born and raised in Southern Idaho, the middle child of a family of five. A girl of the mountains and the desert, she finds inspiration for her writing in the woods, caves, and rivers her adventures have taken her to. She has always enjoyed creative writing, beginning in elementary school with poetry and short story assignments. But working through a bout of post-partum depression later in life, she found healing in the stories that flowed from her fingers, and a love of creating something deeper was born.

Influenced by classics like Little Women, Anne of Green Gables, and Emma, as well as contemporary works such as The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale and Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine (along with a generous dash of Georgette Heyer), Claybrook's style blends the poetic with fun, and revels in characters who explore what it means to be human. Her goal as an author is to shed light into the lives of her readers.

She lives in Idaho with her husband and children.
